Did you know what is the difference between a pressure switch and a pressure sensor?

October 20, 2023

Both of them are essential components in the pneumatic installation of commercial vehicles. They are intended for detecting the air pressure and turn it into an electrical signal sent to the electronic control unit.

In suspension and brake systems, knowing the pressure levels in tanks and valves is fundamental in order to be able to properly manage the safety and stability of the vehicle.

Discover the use of each one of them:

  • Pressure switches are simple sensors in charge of conveying a warning when the pressure reaches a certain value. For instance, they are used for protection against high pressure increases in the brake line.
  • However, pressure sensors integrate more complex electronics, being capable of measuring pressure values at all times. These are used when it is necessary to know the pressure value accurately.

Although they are very similar in appearance, knowing about their operation is fundamental so that they are properly installed.
