DID YOU KNOW WHICH ARE THE DIFFERENT SENSORS THAT AN ENGINE CAN HAVE?

October 23, 2023

The engine is the heart of mechanically propelled vehicles. It is in charge of transforming the thermal energy from the fuel into mechanical energy in order to move the vehicle.

The coordination of the different parts that operate in the combustion process is carried out by sensors that collect and share information in real time about the different physical magnitudes that control the engine performance.

When we refer to synchronisation, the most relevant sensors are crankshaft and camshaft revolution sensors, informing about the position of pistons and intake and exhaust valves.

To prepare the air-fuel ratio, some sensors involved in the process are pressure and air temperature sensors (MAP) and fuel temperature sensors. Thanks to these sensors, the engine is capable of supplying the exact amount of air and fuel depending on the state of each fluid.

Besides, there are sensors fundamental for the proper engine performance and maintenance that do not affect the combustion process directly, such as those integrating the exhaust gas treatment system, the cooling system or other sensors that inform about the oil state.

In Cojali we provide coverage for the entire range of sensors that control the vehicle power system in order to offer our clients products that guarantee the engine to operate in an efficient and optimal way.
